Dove House Hospice Holiday Retreat Reopens!
Patrington Haven Leisure Park is thrilled to announce that The Dovecote, a holiday caravan offering a haven for patients of Dove House Hospice has now reopened since the coronavirus pandemic.
The Dovecote caravan is a holiday caravan provided by Dove House Hospice that gives patients, their families, carers and also loved ones during bereavement a much-needed break.
The Dovecote sadly had to close during the coronavirus lockdown and has since been refurbished ready for its reopening. Joined together in this happy moment, representatives from Dove House Hospice were accompanied by members of the Patrington Haven Leisure Park team in early March, to cut the ribbon and reopen The Dovecote.
The saying goes ‘a change is as good as a rest’ and, whilst dealing with difficult news, hospital appointments and navigating grief, having a change of scenery with time and space to think and reflect, can make the world of difference. A break at The Dovecote provides the opportunity to create special moments and enjoy some quality family time.
The Dovecote caravan is located at Patrington Haven Leisure Park in East Yorkshire, and has full access to The Country Club’s five-star facilities including Guy’s Café Bar & Restaurant, the Spa, the Gym, Swimming Pool, Fishing Lake, and more.
Just a short walk or 5-minute drive from the caravan is the quaint countryside village of Patrington, with a choice of charming independent shops and cafés to explore.
Refurbished in 2023, The Dovecote caravan sleeps six people, is wheelchair friendly, has an accessible bathroom & shower, all bedding and towels are provided and there is a private garden area to enjoy and relax in.
Families can request a stay at The Dovecote by filling in an online form. There is no charge to stay at The Dovecote, although some families may choose to make a donation.
Here are some kind words from families who have used the caravan:
“The caravan was a lifeline for us… we used to look forward to going.”
“The caravan is lovely and clean, we enjoyed the beautiful flowers on the site and the fishing lake can be admired from the window.”
“It’s beautifully positioned for someone experiencing serious illness and has easy access for someone in a wheelchair.”
“The kids loved it, especially the swimming pool and The Country Club.”
