Personalising Your Garden Plot

The Garden Plot Development Booklet provides examples and highlights the benefits of personalising your garden plot with features such as fencing, concreting, sheds, decking and balconies, skirting, and hot tubs.

Certain hot tubs are permitted on your Garden Plot. To ensure safety and compliance, all hot tubs must be placed on a solid concrete or paved area.

Please be aware: Hot tubs significantly increase electricity usage.
For instance: Lay-Z-Spa running costs (based on https://www.lay-z-spa.co.uk/pages/lay-z-sparunning costs):

  • Daily: £2.63
  • Weekly: £18.41
  • Annually: £957.32

Our Philosophy

Patrington Haven Leisure Park has prided itself for being at the forefront of Holiday Park design, facilities, customer services and innovation.

Recent times have allowed us as an organisation the opportunity to review many of the processes and standards we operate to. As part of this review we have recently looked at the Garden Plot standards.

The factors we have taken into account are such things as duty of care to all customers in relation to road traffic safety, fire risk, trip and slip hazards, impact on neighbours of oversize planting, overall presentation and “feel” of the Park, the growing concerns around the change in weather conditions, and the increase in “deluge” rain fall, and
increased frequency and variety of inspection by local government agencies.

The result has been to update as to how the decision making process followed in granting Garden Plot development requests will be made, which we would like to share.

Guiding Principles

  • The Impact on the team or Park users, the safe enjoyment of the Park in any way, specifically in relation to, traffic line of sight or collision impact, trip or slip risk, fire distance or flammability.
  • Noise or light impact on other Park users.
  • Visual or “feel” impact on structures and colour palate.
  • Impact on land drainage with introduction of hard or impermeable surfaces or finishes that result in soil compaction.
  • Do the proposals comply with prevailing regulatory guidelines.

Moving forward these will be the criteria that will be applied and to help streamline the service to all owners. Whilst not wanting to hamper owner’s creativity, we recommend that before submitting a request ask yourself how the requests fits within the criteria set out above in the Guiding Principles.

Over the course of the year this will be the basis that Park and plot inspections will be carried out.
